Zagreb Zoo (Croatian: Zoološki vrt grada Zagreba) is one of three zoo parks in Croatia. It has 275 animal species represented by 2,225 animals and located within the Maksimir Park. Zoo opened its doors on June 27, 1925.

ZAGREB, CROATIA – Zagreb ZOO celebrated its 84 th birthday this weekend. The programme was educational and entertaining, however, two major events marked it: the opening of the “Living Together” exhibition and a picnic with teddy bears.
Apart from Zagreb ZOO, the picnic was also organised in hundreds of ZOOs throughout Europe with the goal of breaking the Guinness record. Teddy bears were counted on the picnic, not persons, while a person was free to bring up to 20 teddy bears.
The Zagreb zoo is in the southern part of the spacious Maksimir park, about 3 km east of downtown. To get out there, take tram 11 or 13 from Trg Josip Jelacica, or 4 from the railway station.
