Vassfaret only has permission to have one male bear and two she-bears,
so cubs are only allotted two years of life, no matter how adorable or
famous they become.
Vassfaret Bear Park features life and the animals in Vassfaret
as they once were. Bears, elks and other wild animals, as well as
child-friendly domestic farm animals. A peaceful atmosphere, simple
meals and top flight scenic experiences.
The Vassfaret Bear Park has 6-8 bears. There are paths encircling the
whole bear fence. There is also a moose and deer area, and a bird
pond. Children may visit the rabbit and chicken villages.
In Vassfaret Bear Park you can experience bears and other wild forest
animals as well as farm animals. The park has 7 bears with Rugg, the
biggest bear in Norway, at the head. In January 2006 the park also
received two cubs.
Vassfaret Bear Park is a zoo displaying animals from Vassfaret in
their natural habitat. The main attraction is the bears, but you can
also see moose, deer, birds and tame animals like pigs, goats, sheep
and rabbits.

Half way to Hønefoss, we stopped at Vassfaret Bear Park in a
town called Flå. It wasn't open to the public for the season, but Bear
Master Egil Myrland let us come in and see the bears.
