Triangle Metro Zoo was a small privately operated zoo that operated
from 1998 until 2006, just North of Raleigh, North Carolina.
The zoo originated from Larry Seibel's long experience in breeding
exotic animals.
The Triangle Metro Zoo, its owner announced this week, is closed.
Larry Seibel wonders where he will place Rajah, a Bengal tiger that he
has at the Triangle Metro Zoo that he has run for eight years in Wake
Forest.
Over the past seven years, Triangle Metro Zoo has housed more than 500
animals of 83 varieties, including antelopes, lemurs, tigers, lions,
bears, kangaroos and a giraffe.

Over the past seven years, Triangle Metro Zoo has entertained hundreds
of thousands of visitors, many of them school children who enjoyed
up-close educational encounters with the more than 83 varieties of
animals on site.

breeder and owner of Triangle Metro Zoo, has announced that the
facility will not reopen in the spring. The difficult decision,
prompted by increasing overhead and personal reasons, effectively
closes the zoo immediately.
Many of the animals at the Triangle Metro Zoo were rescued from
abusive situations and provided with a safe and nurturing environment.
One of the zoo's many successes is the rescue and rehabilitation of
Rajah, a tiger that suffered tremendous abuse and neglect by his
former owner.
Triangle Metro Zoo, completed his journey to his new home on
Monday, Dec. 10th. His "red carpet" was a Budget rent-a-truck and
a clean enclosure with a fresh mulch pile near the back of CPT's
compound.

The zoo closed early this year and owner Larry Seibel sent all of
the other animals to new homes, but Rajah occupied a very special
place in Larrys heart.

Triangle Metro Zoo has found a permanent home for his star attraction.
Rajah, a Bengal Tiger rescued by Larry Seibel, will relocate to the
Carnivore Preservation Trust in northern Chatham County after he
finishes a stint in quarantine at the North Carolina Zoo.
opened the Triangle Metro Zoo in 1998, Rajah was an instant hit.
When Seibel made the decision to close the zoo last January, he
worried openly about the difficulty of finding a new home for Rajah.
