The Sierra Safari Zoo was started by 3 men, Dale McDaniel, Jimmie
Martin, and Dave Dawson. They had a collection of exotic animals as a
hobby which started with ostriches. They aquired the property in
January 1989 and the zoo opened in August 1990.

The Sierra Safari Zoo is a zoo north of Reno, Nevada, United States.
Opening in 1989, it has grown to become the largest zoo in the state.

olds when accompanied by a paying adult. No special pass or coupon is
required for the free admission.
The Sierra Safari Zoo has grown into the largest collection of exotic
animals in Nevada. Over 15,000 visitors come to the zoo each year to
see the more than 40 different species of exotic animals. The Zoos
hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
