attraction, averaging 850,000 visitors each year.

Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is fortunate in having a source of live
plants and natural props and substrates for integration into the
reptile exhibits. The use of live plants makes exhibits more complex
visually, spatially, tactilely and aromatically.
Riverbanks Zoo is committed to providing enrichment for all the
animals in the collection.
The Aquarium Reptile Complex or ARC at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden has a
diverse reptile collection that includes 34 snake species, 25 lizard
species 23 species of turtles and tortoises and 2 crocodilians.

to the daily management of exotic wildlife was eye-opening and
entertaining for the three Sandhill interns. All three came away with
a better understanding of what it takes to run an accredited zoo.

Celebrate Spring at Riverbanks Farm
COLUMBIA, S.C.
There is always something new at Riverbanks Zoo, and in the past year
Riverbanks has opened Koala Knockabout and the new grizzly exhibit.
The 55,000 gallon Coral Reef tank in the Aquarium Reptile Complex has
been renovated with new, colorful coral replicas.
Riverbanks Zoo & Garden is open daily
from 9am to 4pm, and summer weekends until 5pm. For more information,

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Officials with the Riverbanks Zoo & Gardens in
Columbia say a gorilla climbed a piece of bamboo hanging over its
enclosure to escape Friday morning.
The gorillas at the Riverbanks Zoo are now back on display. They went
back into their habitat Wednesday night after the zoo closed.
