Fargo’s Red River Zoo is home for more than 300 animals and 75 species
from areas around the world with similar climates to the Red River
Valley. The zoo is located on 33 acres in southwest Fargo.
Before I'd ever visited the Red River Zoo, I asked a friend of mine
who worked there what it was like. She said, "It's small but good."
That pretty much sums it up. This is not a large zoo, but it's not
trying to be anything it's not.
Well, for the moment, the Red River Zoo is safe, but many of the homes
and businesses in Fargo are not. To help out, the zoo is accepting
people’s exotic pets so that they can be cared for while the rest of
Fargo flees.
FARGO — The Red River Zoo in North Dakota has welcomed a rare new set
of red panda triplets.
The new babies are two females and one male. They were born June 11 at
the zoo in Fargo.

Chang Tan, a 5-year-old male, previously lived at the Red River Zoo in
Fargo, N.D., in the Red Panda Species Survival Plan administered by
the American Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). The association
recommended Chang Tan be moved to Vilas and eventually paired with a
female.
