The only lion in the Plovdiv Zoo has died over the winter because of
its old age and the terrible conditions there. This photo was taken in

The Manager of the Plovdiv Zoo Latinka Kumcheva said that the only
lion in the zoo had died over the winter, and that the staff was not
even trying to get another one because of the extremely miserable and
inappropriate conditions in the facility.
