The Phoenix Zoo, opened in 1962, is the largest non-profit zoo in the
United States. Located in Phoenix, Arizona, the zoo operates on 125
acres (0.51 km2) of land in the Papago Park area of Phoenix. It has
been designated as a Phoenix Point of Pride.
The Phoenix Zoo began as a personal project of Maytag's, who formed
the Arizona Zoological Society with the intention of opening a zoo in
Phoenix. Although Maytag died a few months before the opening, the zoo
opened on schedule in November 1962.
The Phoenix Zoo is made up of four major themed areas, or "trails",
where visitors can experience exhibits representing different areas of
the world and their native wildlife: the Arizona Trail, the Africa
Trail, the Tropics Trail, and the Discovery/Children's Trail.

Phoenix zoo has lots of animals and most are in big enclosures. It is
split up into different themes such as the african section, giraffe
pictured below.
I'm a huge fan of the Phoenix Zoo which is funny since I don't really
like kids and there are always a zillion kids around. But that's not
the zoos fault.
There are great animals here and lots to see.
Anyway, the Phoenix Zoo is a must see on a cool day. In the summer
they open at 7, so you should be able to enjoy the morning coolness.

humanity, instead making me think that we are just nature-killing

If you care for animals even in the slightest bit, do not go to this
zoo and take action.

Phoenix Zoo is my favorite place to take my children. I can take them
outside and get some physical activity, while having plenty of places
to rest as needed. My oldest child loves to hear the talks by the zoo
keepers.
