The Philadelphia Zoo is located at the corner of 34th Street and
Girard Avenue in Philadelphia's historic Fairmount Park, the world's
largest landscaped city park.
In its first year of operation, the Philadelphia Zoo had 813
animals and received over 228,000 visitors. Today, the 42-acre Zoo has
more than 1,600 rare and endangered animals, and its attendance is
approximately 1.1 million visitors a year.
The Philadelphia Zoo announced on October 5, 2006 their decision to
close its elephant exhibit by the spring of 2007 and transfer all four
of its elephants to other facilities.

at heart. The zoo is fun and relaxing! The animals are wonderful, the
shows are thrilling, and you can spend your whole day lost in the

unbeatable monkey exhibit.
However, the Philadelphia Zoo was decent along with some unique
animals that I've yet to see in other zoos. Also, this zoo is the
second zoo (first was Toronto) that I've been that peacocks roam
around freely.
Philadelphia Zoo! Then I grew up a little, and all my friends were
"too cool" to go to the zoo so I didn't go for years. That was the
dark time in my life.
