Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo is located in Hilo on the Big Island of
Hawai'i. This small (12 acre) zoo is the only one in the United States
located in a rain forest.
The Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo, located off Highway 11 on the Hilo side
of the "Big Island" of Hawaii, is the only tropical rainforest zoo in
the United States.
On the smaller side, the Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo & Gardens is a hidden
gem on the Big Island. It is literally a Rainforest Zoo within an
actual tropical rainforest (as far as I could tell). I thought this
place was great for both children and adults.

The Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens is open 9am-4pm daily and
entrance is free thanks to the county of Hawaii. It is located off Hwy
11, on the left side when driving into Hilo.
Bring water and wear lots of sunscreen.
The Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo and Botantical Garden is a 12-acre zoo
with 80 different species of animals, from the cute and exotic to the
stunningly beautiful.
The collection includes a Lady Amherst Pheasant, found in Tibet and
Burma and the endangered 'io, or Hawaiian Hawk.
Island with a loved one, the Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo, is a great place
if you want to get away from all the typical Hawaii attractions. Low
