Olomouc ZOO is situated in the beautiful environment of Svaty Kopecek,
eleven kilometres from the town centre. The area of the ZOO is 42,5
hectares.
The ZOO breeds more than 200 species of animal and has over 1000
livestock.
Olomouc ZOO has bred
a Malayan sun bear, maned wolves and many felines. The half-apes, blac
lemurs rear young regulary. Vulturine guineafowl, East African crowned
cranes and greater flamingos are the most precious birds bred in the
ZOO.
Olomouc ZOO is a member of European Association of Zoological Gardens
and Aquariums.
Olomouc Zoo , which is well respected for its work with more
than 50 endangered species, included Rothschild’s Giraffes.

The Olomouc Zoo prides itself on a number of rarities which you won’t
want to miss.
For example the dark and mysterious Bat Pavilion, illuminated only by
starlight and several small spotlights which provides an environment
for nocturnal animals.
Olomouc Zoo – for instance two giant aviaries, the Giraffe Pavilion,
the Tropical Pavilion... It is a zoo famous for breeding, including
the Addax antelope, the Flare-Horned markhor, the ibex, and the
Rothschild giraffe.
Olomouc zoo and the pilgrimage church on Svatý Kopeèek (Holy Hill)
are a mere 8km from the city, and buses run every 15 minutes
during the day.
The Olomouc Zoo, located in a mixed forest covering an area of 425
hectares, takes care of more than 250 animal species.
