Odense Zoo is a well-stocked and maintained attraction with a large
selection of animals from around the world.
Odense Zoo was founded 1930 by a man named Christian Jensen, and it
started out with two monkeys, a peacock, a mule, several magpies and
some guinea pigs.
Until then Odense Zoo was a rather smallish
institution with a distinct lack of space and consequently few large
animals, but the new aquisition more than doubled its area.
So clearly at last Odense zoo is coming of age. Its yearly
attendance has varied between 100.000 and 150.000, but with all the
new activity it is bound to grow fast.

I swung by the Odense Zoo on my back, and rather enjoyed that, too. It
was one of the larger zoos I had seen in Europe. A large section of
the zoo is open land where herds of elk and ostriches were able to
roam free.
Odense Zoo, she became a lot more enthusiastic about moving to
Denmark. We’ve since moved from that house, but just about every night
we would hear the sea lions barking and the lions roaring. Click for

Giant tortoises at Odense Zoo are kept in their native element of
extreme drought and lots of light. The temperature and humidity are
vitually the same as on their native island of Aldabra.
Odense Zoo participates in the EEP program for Aldabra giant
tortoises.
The exhibition hall is built like a green house except for three walls
which are covered and insulated.

One of the largest attractions at Odense Zoo is the large South
American enclosure. Here, zoo visitors move about in a tropical jungle
climate where animals such as sloths, piranhas and manatees live.
The vision of Odense Zoo is to nurture and support the animals in
retaining as much of their wild nature as possible. Accordingly, the
keepers train the animals in order to stimulate them and not for the
purpose of putting on shows.
In Odense Zoo there are 4-5 Sea Cows in a big aquarium, and at feeding
time, youll see them rushing around to catch the lettuce the workers
through in the water. They eat a lot of it.

Odense Zoo's giraffe (Danish for giraf) Kalle was found dead, as the
Albani Breweries had previously used this giraffe in its advertisement,
it decided to create a special beer, the profits of which would be
spent on purchasing a new giraffe for the zoo.
Odense Zoo is one of Denmark's biggest and best attractions at
