Oakland Zoo, in the past known as the Knowland Zoo, is a zoo located
in southeastern Oakland, California, United States. Oakland Zoo is

The Oakland Zoo of today does not resemble the zoo so many of us
remember in the Oakland Hills. The first time I revisited the
facility, I was pleased to many enclosures with more natural habitat
for the animals.
The homes Oakland Zoo has created for many of its
inhabitants afford animals a least some measure of privacy and innate
activity.

Conservation is a primary concern at the Oakland Zoo.
The Oakland Zoo is located at 9777 Golf Links Rd., Oakland, off
Highway 580. Exit at "98th Avenue/Golf Links Road.
The Oakland Zoo was established in 1922, by naturalist Henry A. Snow,
at 19th and Harrison Streets in downtown Oakland. Snow Park now
occupies the site of the Zoo's first home. The Zoo moved to Knowland
Park between 1936 and 1938.

hills of 525-acre Knowland Park, the Zoo is home to more than 440
native and exotic animals.

large park area the Oakland zoo has several exhibits and attractions
for all ages. Bording on the large size there are pleanty of exhibits
to see. Great price, friendly service but some hills so wear good
shoes.
PROS: Large size, lots of exhibits.
The Oakland Zoo is a fun experience for the whole family. Kids will
love watching all the animals, and adults will enjoy watching and
learning about them from the helpful information provided for each
animal.
Anyway, on the day we set out to film at the Oakland Zoo, I had at
least a inkling of what to expect. In the 1990s, an old friend of mine
had worked with spotted hyenas at the Berkeley Field Station for the
Study of Behavior, Ecology and Reproduction.

management staff will happily feed and care for them until they grow
big enough to fend for themselves back in their home in Lake County.
So I pretty much knew that these hyenas at the Oakland zoo were going
to be more tiger than dog. Still, you have to see them up close to
really get their power. And there are really few, if any, animals like
them.

living in lush, naturalistic settings. Our collection is organized in
biomes, geographic regions that represent the ecosystem of that area.
The Oakland Zoo is nestled in the rolling hills of 525-acre Knowland
Park. Each year thousands of families and school groups from around
the Bay Area come to visit over 300 native and exotic animals that
live in naturalistic habitats at the Zoo.

"The leading cause of death among elephants in captivity is foot
problems," Kinzley said. "You have to look carefully.

In some people's minds, elephants are the ultimate symbol of strength

Oakland Zoo for the first time (in memory), it was like being wrapped
in a warm and clean zoo blankie. None of the animals looked even
remotely desperate AND it had actual green plant material and very few
empty cages.
Oakland Zoo, but some of the fucking idiots who write reviews about
places they didn't even visit.
About the zoo...
This a pretty cool place to spend a day.
The Oakland zoo is cool. The food sucks though. All there is for
vegans to eat is curly fries and chips with packaged guacamole. They
have great novelty t-shirts, and i love chimpanzees.
Oakland Zoo, and SF Zoo altogether! The place is brightly lit, has
scintillating creatures, 2 superb theaters, and is well organized with
a smooth 7.
The Oakland Zoo is a non-profit organization, managed by the East Bay
Zoological Society. Founded in 1922 by Henry Snow, the Zoo has been
located in its current Knowland Park location since 1936.
