(AP) — The Mesker Park Zoo in southern Indiana has
opened a new $13 million Amazon rain forest exhibit.
Zoo officials cut a vine, rather than a ribbon, to officially open the
exhibit.
Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden is one of the few institutions in
the United States to exhibit sitatunga antelope. Even among zoos that
have these animals, there are very few males in the population.
Mesker Park Zoo is located at 2421 Bement Ave in Evansville, Indiana.
It is actually now called Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden. The zoo,
located on 70 acres of rolling hills, is home to more than 700 animals
from all over the world.
