Memphis Zoo is a wise investment

The zoo is the best thing Memphis has going for it.
The Memphis Zoo recently clear cut several acres of adjacent ancient
forest area to make way for a new exhibit. The zoo did so without
public input and destroyed at least a dozen nesting bird nesting sites
and countless other habitat for a variety of species.

Memphis Zoo is home to two African elephants. Asali, a young female,
has been subjected to numerous failed breeding attempts through
artificial insemination.
The Memphis Zoo exhibit is very small. Until summer 2006, when it was
expanded slightly, the exhibit included a 9,106 square foot (.2 acre)
yard and only 1,791 square feet (smaller than 6 parking spaces)
inside.

I disagree that the Memphis Zoo is the best zoo anywhere. I've not
visit all American zoos, but I have visited many (Atlanta, Cincinnati,
Cleveland, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Knoxville, Memphis, Miami, Tampa,
