I love zoos in general and the Melbourne Zoo was no exception. Some of
the kangaroos have pens that are fairly open (minimal fencing which
allows the emus to roam about) and I saw 2 little kids petting one of
the resting kangaroos.

Visited Melbourne Zoo about 2 years ago and was disappointed
considering so much of Melbourne is well planned and artistic. Sad to
see animals in old fashioned cages, tigers pacing etc. Reminded me of

Melbourne Zoo is a good zoo of the world's
animals. Some of the displays are outstanding, some are mediocre. All
the best displays are of animals that are well displayed in any of the
world's top zoos.
We just returned from a trip to Australia, and the Melbourne Zoo was
one of the attractions we visited. We had hoped to see a variety of
Australian mammals, but we were quite disappointed. We thought it was
overpriced, and its selection of Australian mammals was poor.
