We went to the Los Angeles zoo on our final day of our LA vacation
last week. It was a really nice day in the 60's. They had many
different kinds of animals.
The Los Angeles Zoo announces the births of a Masai giraffe and
rare Peninsular pronghorn twins.
In the spirit of daylight-saving time, the Los Angeles Zoo is
hosting Springing Forward for Amphibians this weekend.
Located on 113 acres in Griffith Park, the Los Angeles Zoo opened in
1966. Its holdings now include 1,200 animals, and the Los Angeles Zoo
is a leader in efforts to save the California Condor and return it to
the wild.

The Los Angeles Zoo is open daily except December 25. It is located
across from the Autry Museum of Western Heritage.
The Los Angeles Zoo is located in the heart of the nation’s
second-largest city. Each year 1.4 million visitors pass through the
gates to view a collection of more than 1,200 animals from around the
world. HOURS Open daily 10 a.m to 5 p.m.

offer a chance for your kids to see most of their favorite
animals...monkeys, zebras, elephants, lions, camels, hippos, and many

The Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA) was created to support
the Los Angeles Zoo in its mission to nurture wildlife and enrich the
human experience. GLAZA's primary responsibility is to seek and
provide financial support for the Zoo's programs and capital projects.
Currently, the Los Angeles Zoo is planning and building a $39 million
dollar elephant exhibit expansion. Billy, a 20 year old Asian male and
the only elephant at the zoo, will be the breeding bull for the new
exhibit.
The fate of the Los Angeles Zoo elephants had become
especially important to local citizens since the death of Tara in
December 2004 and Gita in June 2006. For more information about Gita

Los Angeles Zoo is not about animals; it's how hilly the zoo is. From
the (flat!) front entrance, you can't really tell that the Los Angeles
Zoo's trails wind around in hilly terrain.
