The Isle of Wight Zoo is the residence for a wide range of animals
being big cats, primates, birds and reptiles.
As you know from above that Isle of Wight Zoo is the perfect place for
the big cats` groups like tigers, lions, pumas, jaguars, cheetahs,
leopards etc. Recently a new and winning breeding programme was
launched. Also a new centre for supporting the big cats was opened.
that the Isle of Wight Zoo being the home of big cats, it is also
widely known for its super collection of primates. There are four
lemurs from Madagascar who live and feel themselves at home in their
own Lemurland.

Originally known as Sandown Zoo, the Isle of Wight Zoo is located on
the edge of Sandown Bay at the eastern end of the Island, within the
walls of a fort that was part of the Victorian coastal defence
network.
The Isle of Wight Zoo is home to the largest collection of tigers in
Britain. A loyal ally to the tiger for over twenty five years this is
an award winning zoo.
All the animals at the Isle of Wight Zoo live in a large variety of
naturalistic enclosures encouraging them to show natural behaviour.
While you are visiting the Isle of Wight Zoo you can see The Tiger
Sanctuary, Lemurland and maybe even Nature’s Nightmares.

probably best known for work with its exotic cats. The Isle of Wight
Zoo has been home to a large number of different members of the cat

A popular choice for tourists is the Isle of Wight Zoo which is home
to Britain's largest collection of tigers. A show dedicated to the
tigers titled 'Tiger Island' was a popular documentary that followed
the behavior of the tigers and those who looked after them.
The Isle of Wight Zoo is situated on the eastern side of the Island
overlooking Sandown Bay's beautiful seafront complete with safe, sandy
beaches and cliff walks. Sandown is clearly sign posted from all the
main towns and ferry terminals.
The Isle of Wight Zoo is home to 20 Tigers, 3 Lions, 2 Jaguars and 2
Leopards. Most of the big cats live two to an area and whilst we were
there, sat sunning themselves in the glorious sunshine.
The Isle of Wight Zoo has done incredibly well in shaping itself as a
conservation centre for Tigers and Lemurs which is good as thats
about all they have! If youre looking for Elephants or Rhinos youll
need to go elsewhere.
I visited the Isle of Wight Zoo in June 2008 during a day trip to the
island.
Visitors to the Isle of Wight Zoo are having their feathers ruffled by
baby Ruffed Lemurs!
It’s the time of year when nature loving Britons are granted VIP
access to birds’ nests as BBC’s ‘Springwatch’ makes a welcome return
to our screens.
