Cosley Zoo has all sorts of animals, including pigs, a horse, a llama,
etc. I think what the kids like the most, though, is the train car
that they can climb into and explore.

With an estimated 100,000 visitors a year, Cosley Zoo has its fair
share of parking shortages.
In fact, officials with Wheaton Park District, which operates the free
zoo at Gary Avenue and Jewell Road, say it's not uncommon for the
54-space parking lot to fill up.
With its 5 acres of exhibits, Cosley Zoo has hundreds of animals
representing dozens of species, including llamas, horses and owls.
There's also a gift shop, a picnic area and a recently renovated
caboose that's been on the grounds since the early 1980s.

Cosley Zoo has had an interesting history. The 1887 Chicago and
Northwestern train station was moved to the site in 1910. However, the
2.65 acres were in private hands until 1973 when Paula Jones donated
the land to save it from development.

On November 9, 1973, Paula Jones donated 2.65 acres of land to the
Wheaton Park District. Ms.
Cosley Zoo pursued and obtained accreditation by the Association for
Zoos and Aquariums in March, 2002.
