The Cherry Brook Zoo has been part of the Great Saint John area for
over 27 years beginning as a private facility in Garnett Settlement in
1974 and relocating and opening in its present location in Rockwood
Park in June 1978.
The Cherry Brook Zoo is operated by Chief Administrative Director Len
Collrin and Director Zoo Development/ Primatologist Lynda Collrin. The
zoo is governed by an elected board of trustees for the community.
The Cherry Brook Zoo works in conjunction with UNBSJ for credit
programs in biology. It is a teaching facility and also works in
unison with many Canadian universities.

grateful that we have played a role in this international program to

Cherry Brook Zoo not only remains as a part of our communities but can
enhance and grow. So much could be accomplished with operational
funding from our city so please take the time to let them know our Zoo

The non-profit zoo has been struggling since the city stopped its
funding in 2003, said Lynda Collrin, director of zoo development.
The Cherry Brook Zoo was the first zoo to be accredited in Atlantic
Canada, and one of only a handful of accredited facilities
nation-wide, said Trevor Holder (MLA-Saint John Portland) on behalf of
Premier Bernard Lord, Minister responsible for the Regional
Development Corporation.
The Cherry Brook Zoo & Vanished Kingdom Park is located in natural
woodland in the northern section of Rockwood Park, the first
Accredited Zoo in Atlantic Canada. The Zoo specializes in endangered
and exotic animals.
Cherry Brook Zoo is an active volunteer organization minimum age 16.
