The Central Park Zoo is located in Central Park in New York City and
run by the Wildlife Conservation Society.
Central Park Zoo is home to an indoor rainforest, a leafcutter ant
colony, a chilled penguin house and Polar Bear pool. The Central Park
Zoo houses breeding programs for some endangered species: tamarin
monkeys, Wyoming Toads, Thick-billed Parrots and Red Pandas.
The Central Park Zoo was featured in Robert Lawson's Mr. Popper's
Penguins (1938) and in the animated films Madagascar (2005), The Wild
(2006) and Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (2008), as well as in the
Madagascar animated series, The Penguins of Madagascar.

In concept, a zoo in the middle of Central Park sounds awesome.
In summary, the Central Park Zoo is small, inexpensive and quick/easy
to get through. You can really get through the whole thing in about an
hour.

We have thought several times that we must go to the zoo in Central
Park. So this time we went.
Wildlife Center at the Central Park Zoo introduces visitors to
fascinating animals - from tiny leafcutter ants to tremendous polar
bears.
The Central Park Zoo, in partnership with NYC, is operated by the
Wildlife Conservation Society. As a city zoo our mission is to allow
visitors the opportunity to experience animals they might not
otherwise be able to see.
The Central Park Zoo exhibits nearly 150 species of animals in a 5.5
acres within Central Park. The main zoo is divided into tropic,
temperate and polar regions with corresponding animals exhibited in
each.
The Central Park Zoo reopened in 1988. Sterile cages with bars were
removed as were most of the large animals, except sea lions and polar
bears, which had been at the zoo since the 1860s.
Of all the beasts at the Central Park Zoo on Sunday, one pudgy
pair hogged the limelight.
The Central Park Zoo, through the services of Linda Kaye's
Birthdaybakers Partymakers, has created the wildest and most
imaginative birthday celebrations in the city.
Parties can take place winter, spring, summer and fall - rain or
shine.
