Belize Zoo - The best Little Zoo in the world
A Belize Zoo: Tapirs, Vultures and Jaguars...
The Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center was started in 1983, as a
last ditch effort to provide a home for a collection of wild animals
which had been used in making documentary films about tropical
forests.
Today, The Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center is settled upon 29
acres of tropical savanna and exhibits over 125 animals all native to
Belize.
The Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center believes that by bringing
the people of Belize closer to the animals which are their natural
heritage, they will feel proud of these special resources, and want to
protect them for future generations.

short drive to the Belize Zoo, located in the tropical savanna
countryside. It is different from most zoos in that it does not import
animals from different parts of the world but simply takes in
creatures that are native to Central America.
Compared to big-city zoos, the Belize zoo is very small and only
contains animals native to Belize.
