has produced some surprising records in breeding of several species in
Pakistan over many years especially the African lions have shown
distinguishing results in their breeding at Bahawalpur Zoo.

About Bahawalpur
Bahawalpur is located at an altitude of 400 feet and is spread over an
area of 27,530 square kilometers.
This, my first visit to Bahawalpur Zoo, took place in late February,
2007. My first impression on passing through the gate was one of a
spacious, flat terrain interspaced with lawns and pathways. I decided
to turn right and proceed anticlockwise around the zoo.
After visiting Bahawalpur Zoo it was decided that I should visit a
Lion Safari and a nearby somewhat vaguely described collection of
‘other animals’ about 35 kilometres away in an area that is a National
Park.

Ten years old female leopard, Chanbeli, was born in Bahawalpur Zoo in
1998.
It was brought to the Lahore Zoo on August 2001, when it was hardly
three years old.
Leopard is a member of cat family and considered a sharp and powerful
animal.
The Bahawalpur zoo is considered to be one of the best in the
country. Spread over an area of 25 acres, it has an interesting
collection of 120 animals and 750 tropical birds.
Bahawalpur Zoo was established in 1942. It covers several acres of
land. It houses a large number of animals including lions, tigers,
deer, monkeys, alligators, bears, crocodiles, snakes and birds.
