Aquarium of the Bay is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit marine nature center
dedicated to inspiring conservation of the San Francisco Bay and all
marine environments. Affiliated with The Bay Institute, the Aquarium
strongly emphasizes conservation, research and education as its key
priorities.
Aquarium of the Bay's Newsroom is designed as a resource for the
working press. It includes an archive of press releases, background
information and media coverage on the Aquarium.
"Opened in 1996 and enhanced in 2001, Aquarium of the Bay is a unique
educational and entertainment facility dedicated to the rich and
diverse aquatic life of San Francisco Bay and its surrounding waters.

Another thing that endears to me to Aquarium of the Bay, is that they
take an active role in conservation, and public awareness in regards
to the state of our oceans and their inhabitants.
While Aquarium of the Bay may not be as big and built up as the
Monterey Bay Aquarium, it does what it sets out to do, and that is to
provide a "fish eye" view of life in the San Francisco Bay.
The "Catch of the Day" at Aquarium of the Bay is tourist dollars.

famous Monterey counterpart, Aquarium of the Bay's 700,000-gallon main
tank hosts a wide variety of sea creatures including leopard sharks,
bat rays and a giant Pacific octopus.
Frawley from the Aquarium of the Bay, Christina Swanson and Steven
Machtinger from The Bay Institute, and Darius Anderson of Kenwood
Investments were all on hand for the celebration. Congratulations to
all involved in this 4-year effort to acquire the aquarium. Now, our
work has only begun.
time to purchase Aquarium of the Bay in May 2006, Darius Anderson
stepped in and acquired it with the intent of providing additional
time for The Bay Institute to raise the necessary funds.
The Bay Institute’s acquisition of the Aquarium of the Bay is an
impressive feat for the small nonprofit in trying economic times.
