WEST AKRON — Big changes are coming to the Akron Zoo this year. According to Akron Zoo officials, the zoo will acquire at least seven new animals — three tigers, a snow leopard, a red panda and, for the first time, sloth bears, one of which is shown at right.

This is the second time in recent history the Akron Zoo has had jaguar cubs born at the zoo by Naom and Chack. The other cubs, all females, were born in 2005 and have since been moved to other accredited zoos in the country.
